As the Principal of St Benedict’s Catholic School, I welcome you to Townsville’s newest Catholic primary school for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6 in 2018.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the establishment of a new learning community, exploring innovative directions for learning in primary schools and then to work collaboratively as a community to develop and enact our vision.
I am deeply passionate about creating a culture that reflects the mission of Catholic education and nurtures students to achieve success. St Benedict’s contemplative spirituality, his innovative thinking about the future of the church and his directions for building community within the church provide a valuable foundation to develop St Benedict’s Catholic School’s charism.
A vision for St Benedict’s Catholic School
A contemplative community that values the balance between developing our spiritual self and our academic self; making connections that promote our authentic being
A place of joy and wonder where students speak the language of fraternity and beauty in our relationship with the world
A learning culture where students are both supported and challenged to participate in a collaborative community to achieve their best
An integrated curriculum through which connections are discovered and explored
Benedictine spirituality is the foundation of the meditation prayer life which all Catholic schools across the Diocese practise. We believe meditation builds community and St Benedict shows us the way of community. The school site is part of the Catholic Parish known as the Ministerial Region of the Good Shepherd, currently led by Fr Dave
