At St Benedict’s Catholic School we seek to live the Christian values of love and trust of one another and of respect for all of God’s Creation. Through Jesus, as our role model for how we should live and act towards each other, we believe that:
everyone has the right to be treated with respect and to live in safety;
the establishment of a happy and safe environment is the shared responsibility of all staff, parents, carers and students;
children learn essential social skills, such as self-discipline and conflict management best when modelled by significant adults such as parents and teachers;
as each child is made in the image and likeness of God and brings their own unique experiences and gifts to school, levels of social skills will vary;
clearly defined rights and responsibilities allow all members of the school community to promote ownership by all;
action taken to resolve conflict is based on respect, forgiveness and justice.
We work to maintain a happy and supportive environment that maximizes learning experiences and develops skills that enable each student to contribute positively to the school community.
There are two commandments I give you: Love God. (Deuteronomy 5:6-15) Love others (John 13:34)
At St Benedict’s we continuously celebrate success of our students staff and accomplishments as a whole school. Each class acknowledge achievements consistently throughout the day. All dimensions of our students are celebrated from physical, intellectual, environmental, vocational, social, emotional through to spiritual advancements and achievements. Individual students are acknowledged and celebrated within the classroom setting. Individual achievements are acknowledged through the awarding of PEACE stickers and green slips, which identify outstanding student persistence, empathy, accountability, care for community and engagement in learning. Student and class achievements are showcased on parades, in our school grounds, on the administration display boards and within every positive interaction our students engage in. God is in all of life and celebrated continuously within our school community. The Benedictine values of discipline encourage students to strive for their best everyday, across all learning contexts, in the playground and throughout all aspects of our school community.
At St Benedict’s we strive to empower the entire senior cohort to demonstrate leadership and collectively guide their peers across all grades to uphold the school ethos of PEACE, uphold our Catholic identity and Benedictine values. Throughout the course of the year all students are encouraged to contribute in their own way, with great importance placed on the care of the community and humility in which this is done. At St Benedict’s we strive to engage the insights and expertise of all students developing leadership skills throughout our entire school community.
